The Garden Route is blessed by nature with good climate and can be seen as the ultimate beach holiday destination in South Africa, offering lots of sunshine with long, pristine stretches of beach. Here is a list of the Garden Route beaches.

Wilderness

Home to clear Indian Ocean water beaches surrounded by fossils and sand dunes, Wilderness beach extends for miles with nothing but clear white sand. In the distance, ocean spray intensifies near the rocky outcrop of Gerick’s Point. From Dolphin Point you can overlook the stunning stretch of beach below and watch dolphins frolicking in the sea swell.

Plettenberg Bay

Plettenberg Bay is a paradise for any beach lover. The stretches of white sand and warm waters are ideal for swimming, beach sports and tanning. Calm waters with some excellent surfing waves and makes a great safe beach destination for families. Keep an eye out for the Lookout Bar, a great relaxed cafe/restaurant situated on the beach, ideal for sundowners.

Port Elizabeth

Host to clean beautiful beaches with warm water temperatures ranging between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius during summer, Port Elizabeth beach is home to a wide variety of watersports which cater for just about anyone. There is ample opportunity for a variety of watersports.

Nature's Valley

As the name suggests, everything in Nature’s Valley is as nature intended it. You can enjoy surfing, beach walking, rooting around rock pools and slumping in the sand. This is a wonderful, secluded escape within easy reach of civilization where the beach is failry isolated. Walking along the beach that stretches for miles, you will enventually reach streams where otters play.

Mossel Bay

A popular destination for family vacations, Mossel Bay has bountiful beaches located along the shores of the mild Indian Ocean. It has the only north-facing beaches in South Africa as a result of the deeply concave bay, and is a well-known attraction for surfers.
